The land of the Untamed…Spain

Spain more popularly known as “sun- drenched and the untamed land”. The country has amazing beaches, ‘toreros’ (bullfighters), and the ‘flamenco bailaors’ (dancers). Also, popular for the ‘steaming paella and ‘pitchers of sangria’, this place is simply awesome.

The country is also known for its splendid grandeur. The Emerald green mountains and the wild blue Atlantic Ocean are simply a marvel. Also, the “rugged mountain ranges of the Sierra Nevada” which is one of the most attractive and the most popular ski resort in Europe is nestled here.

Seville is known to be the “grand city” of Spain. This place attracts tourists from all over the world and is known for its splendid architecture and many interesting attractions. The most popular place to visit in Seville is the Seville Cathedral. This is a popular piece of architecture and houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus and the major attraction is the Giralda or the Bell Tower. Also, a must visit is the Alcazar which is a popular and the most attractive Islamic palace which has been preserved since the medieval times.

Cordoba is known to be a site for historic significance and has been listed under UNESCO. This place is famous for its “Moorish extravagance” and the Mezquita (mosque) is rated as the most beautiful and the most attractive piece of architecture here.


Granada is one of the most amazing places where you must set your foot in Spain. The Moorish Alhambra which is known all over the world for its exquisite architecture is set in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Other places of interest include the Albaicin and the Old City.

Toledo was once known to be the capital city of Spain and is “dramatically situated on a hill above the River Tagus” which is known to be one of the most attractive locations in Spain. This place is also noted to be a World Historic Site under UNESCO. Some of the interesting places to visit here is the Toledo Cathedral, which is known as the Catedral de Toledo and has an amazing history behind it. The Alcazar, the Mezquita del Crito (mosque), the Casa Museo El Greco a museum which houses twenty of the Artist’s best known paintings. This place was believed to have been occupied by the Romans, Visigoths, Moors and the Christians. Also if you visit this place, you can get a glimpse of the architecture of the place which has a mixed influence of Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

    I love Spain;especially it’s architecture! :-)

    Spanish architecture has drawn from a host of influences, because of its historical and geographical diversity.

    Arab style architecture developed under successive Islamic dynasties, ending with the Nasrid, which built its famed palace complex in Granada!
