Playa Grande Resort and Grand Spa, Cabo San Lucas

Welcome to the hamlet-like accommodation on the southern beach of Baja! Looking over the Pacific on the southern rim of the Peninsula of Baja, Playa Grande Resort and Grand Spa stretches by the side of the extensive picturesque beach. This is one of the main reasons why tourists prefer to stay here whenever they wish to vacation in Mexico’s Cabo San Lucas. Besides this, one more appealing point of this village-like resort is its location – it is just a mile away from the downtown!

Speaking about the main features of Playa Grande, it is the home of not only comfortable guest suites offering the ocean or beach views, but it is also the holder of the swimming pools meant for the people of all ages. Yes, no where else will you find such a facility and it is sure to pull you if you are looking for swimming pool relaxation. The adults rejoice in a large fitness center, health spa, and in their own pool as well as spa tub, whereas the families can bathe in more than one pool as well as drench in a spa tub for all ages.

Playa Grande resort is the property holding 260 suites that are sprinkled very well in across 12 earth tone structures arranged in the shape of V and all looking over to the Pacific Ocean. There are two main room types here for you to choose – Deluxe, Junior and Luxury of which the latter offers some more amenities. Irrespective of which one you select, all the suites hold equipped balconies or ground-floor terraces offering either complete or partial vistas of the ocean and well-equipped kitchens or kitchenettes. In addition, all of them are adorned with modern Mexican decor in form of tile floors, pale walls and ceilings, and bathrooms featuring ceramic accessories as well as red-marble vanities.

Amenities: Premium television channel(s), curtains, air conditioning, voice mail, kitchenette, wake-up calls, housekeeping, complimentary toiletries, hair dryer, shower/tub combination, mirror, in-room childcare for a fee, electronic/magnetic keys, cable television service, iron/ironing board, safe, clock radio, opening windows, sofa bed, and cribs (infant beds) on request.

Under the cool thatched roof is the cozy poolside restaurant-cum-bar named Calima featuring umbrella tables as well as terrace seating. It offers buffet and a la carte breakfast as well as dinner. Lunch is also served here, but it is a la carte one. There is also a sushi bar here. For beachfront dining, be at Brigantin where ocean vistas, terrace seating, nightly piano, and salads are my favorites. With plasma TVs and glass sculptures, the air-conditioned lobby bar from mid-day to late night is famous for its sushi as well as sandwiches.

We spend a week here at the Playa Grande Resort and Grand Spa in December 2010, and we must applaud the resort for being such a clean and well mantainend spa despite seeing so many visitors every year.
