Ladakh – Icy tours with excitement



With the magnificence and the history behind it, Ladakh is surely a place where you would get the best passes, the most rugged of terrain and the most gorgeous of mountain peaks.

While here you can take a Ladakh sojourn and enjoy the beauty of the place. Come to Delhi and go to the Wagah border in Amritsar and then go to Dharmashala . This is around six hours from here. This place Dharamshala is the headquarters of the district of Kangra and is in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This is the most pleasant place and the spirituality here is sensed in the atmosphere itself. The absolute scenic beauty here would enthrall you and you would enjoy the pleasurable surroundings.

Ladakh

From Dharamshala you can go to Manali. This is another six hour drive and you would really love to reach this city with its lovely markets, beautiful mountainous surroundings and great scenic splendor. The entire place is very simple, and the ambience is pristine. Go through the picturesque surroundings here and you have a lot of places to go to here in the valley of Kulu. This is where the largest stone temple of the valley Basheshar Mahadeva lies. Have a look at it.

Stay overnight at Manali and then go round the place next day. Here is where you can have fun snowballing and skiing. See the Hadimba temple here and also the hot springs at Vashist, then go to the Solang valley and enjoy the beauty, visit the Naggar village, and trek across the Chandrakhani pass.

From Manali the next day go to the Rohtang Pass which is at a height of around 13,060 feet. Climb the pass and enjoy the panoramic view this place gives. Visit Keylong which is at a height of 335k0m and is on the Manali Leh road. Also go to Spiti and Lahau both of which have a bazaar. The Jispa village is also a major attraction.

After a stay overnight here in the Rohtang area, the next day go to DArcha village via Sarchu. This is the place where the trekkers go to the Zanskar valley. This is incidentally the place where the last check post of the state of Himachal Pradesh lies. Cross the Barlacha Pass here after document verification and then stay overnight in a tent. The next day go to Tsomoriri by car which is again a six hour drive. Go to Pang after this. Pang is the small market that lies on the Manali Leh road. The Ladakhis run these markets. They come here from June till September. Reach TAnglanla which is the base and then you would reach Tsomoriri. There is a collection of huts here near the lakeside. Here you have to show your permit.

Zanskar valley

The next morning cross the Karzok village and reach Leh. Finally you are in Ladakh. This is where you would have the best of views, with the Stok Mountains and the Ladakh range looming in the background. Here you can see the Namguyal peak, the Khardung la, and the monasteries at Shanti Stupa, Namgyal Tsom and the Shankar Gompa.
